Vivian Green redefined adult contemporary R&B with her debut album, "A Love Story", in 2002. Her timeless vocals remind us of Ella Fitzgerald and Mahalia Jackson, bringing classic soul back into a hip-hop heavy R&B world. Vivian Green tour dates are currently scheduled periodically throughout 2011.
Vivian Green hails from Philadelphia and gained exposure to music as a classically trained singer and pianist. She honed her skills anywhere she could, whether that be booking performances in a jazz club or at a corporate event. She gained industry buzz for writing the single "Dear God" for Boyz II Men's 1997 album "Evolution", and was picked up by Jill Scott in the late '90s as a backup singer. Vivian Green accompanied Scott on her international tour before signing a solo deal with Columbia Records in 2001. Green released her debut album in 2002 and immediately solidified herself as a "Lady of Soul". The album featured the lead-off single, "Emotional Rollercoaster", which proved to be both a US R&B and US Dance hit, reaching #1 on the dance chart. The album garnered her three award nominations at 2002 Lady of Soul Awards and a BET Award for Best R&B Female Artist. Her ascent was solidified when the album was certified gold by the RIAA in 2003.
Given her classic sound and cover-girl looks, Green was cast in the movie De-Lovely singing Cole Porter's "Love For Sale", and she portrayed Brenda Holloway in NBC's '60s drama "American Dreams". She quickly returned to the studio to record the follow-up, "Vivian", which was released in 2005. The album featured the hit singles "Gotta Go, Gotta Leave (Tired)", and "I Like It (But I Don't Need It)" and debuted at #18 on the Billboard 200.
Green went on a personal hiatus in 2005 to focus on her duties as a single mother. She went back into the studio in 2008 to record her third album, "Beautiful" which featured Grammy-nominated producer Anthony Bell on the production board. The album was released in April, 2010 and debuted at #26 on the Billboard R&B albums chart. Vivian Green tour dates are currently scheduled in support of her most recent album. Vivian Green's "Soul Survivor" tour has the artist trekking the country. The soulful singer's tour dates are taking the soul goddess to intimate venues throughout the summer.
